Cheesy Christmas Tree Bread: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Pour in the warm milk and melted butter. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, mix the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, garlic powder, and oregano in a bowl. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into triangles. Place a generous amount of the cheese mixture at the base of each triangle.
  8. Starting from the base, roll each triangle tightly towards the tip. Arrange the rolled triangles on a baking sheet in a tree shape, with the wider ends at the bottom.
  9. Cover the shaped tree with a towel and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.
  10. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Brush the top of the bread with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  13. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm for best flavor.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated.
  • Experiment with different cheeses for variety.
