1 cup assorted toppings (e.g., sprinkles, chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or M&Ms)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire sheet.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring.
Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the arranged saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden brown.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes until melted.
Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly across the toffee.
Sprinkle your chosen toppings over the melted chocolate, pressing them lightly to ensure they stick.
Allow the candy to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. For quicker cooling, place it in the refrigerator.
Once cooled and set, break the candy into pieces of your desired size.
