Country Apple Dumplings: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe That Will Amaze You

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Optional: Ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
  2. Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: Unroll the pie crusts on a floured surface. Cut each crust into four equal squares.
  4. Fill the Dough: Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square.
  5. Wrap the Apples: Fold the corners of the pie crust over the apples, pinching the edges to seal them securely.
  6. Place in Baking Dish: Arrange the dumplings in a greased baking dish, seam side down.
  7. Make the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and butter. Bring it to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  8. Pour Syrup Over Dumplings: Carefully pour the syrup over the dumplings in the baking dish.
  9. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown.
  10. Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
