Irish Chicken Whiskey Cream Sauce: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup Irish whiskey
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  5. Carefully pour in the whiskey, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Add the chicken broth and Dijon mustard, stirring well to combine. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Slowly stir in the heavy cream and thyme. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Allow it to heat through for a couple of minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • This recipe serves well with rice or mashed potatoes.
  • Adjust seasoning according to your taste.
  • You can use chicken thighs instead of breasts for more flavor.
