Ghost Taco Hand Pies are a deliciously fun twist on traditional tacos, wrapped in a flaky, golden crust. Bursting with savory fillings and zesty flavors, these hand pies are perfect for game nights, Halloween parties, or any casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 34 tbsp ice water
  • 1 cup ground beef or turkey (or chicken/plant-based alternative)
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the Filling: Brown the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat. Drain fat and mix in taco seasoning. Cool slightly.
  3. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll chilled dough to 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cutter.
  4. Assemble Hand Pies: Place filling and cheese on one half of each circle, fold over, and seal edges.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving with salsa or guacamole.

Notes

  • Customize the filling to your liking with beans or vegetables.
  • Try different types of cheese for varied flavor.
