- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp green gel food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream, room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- In another bowl, mix together vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, green food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cakes cool, beat cream cheese in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add sour cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract; mix until creamy.
- Once cakes are completely cool, layer them with cheesecake filling in between.
