This classic meatloaf recipe delivers comforting flavors perfect for family dinners. Featuring juicy ground beef, a savory spice blend, and a tangy ketchup glaze, each slice brings warmth and nostalgia.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, sautéed onion, ketchup, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well until combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf in the greased pan and spread additional ketchup on top.
  5. Bake for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a moist meatloaf, consider adding breadcrumbs soaked in milk.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • Let the meatloaf rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing to help retain juices.
  • Feel free to swap ground beef for turkey or chicken, or add diced vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat slices in the oven at 350°F until heated through.
