Parmesan Garlic Artisan Bread is a flavorful, crusty bread with a rich garlic and cheese taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Additional Parmesan cheese for topping
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil, minced garlic, and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a round or oval loaf.
  7. Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover it with a cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  9. After the second rise, sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese on top of the loaf.
  10. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
