Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 bag (about 10 oz) Doritos (any flavor)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain off excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, mixed vegetables, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and create a layer at the bottom using half of the Doritos.
  5. Pour the meat and vegetable mixture over the Dorito layer, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole.
  7. Top the casserole with the remaining Doritos, ensuring even coverage.
  8. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until heated through and the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, ensure your cream of mushroom soup and Doritos are gluten-free.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • Experiment with different cheese varieties like pepper jack or mozzarella.
  • Add diced jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicier casserole.
  • Consider using a skillet that can transition from stovetop to oven for easier cleanup.
