Christmas Cinnamon Rolls: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm milk with the active dry yeast and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon together.
  8. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 16×20 inches).
  9. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
  10. Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  11. Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  12. Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  13. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Remove from the oven and let them cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  16. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  17. Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls.
