Start your Christmas morning with this easy and elegant breakfast featuring warm, flaky croissants, homemade jam, fresh fruit, and sparkling mimosas. It’s a delightful and stress-free way to begin your holiday celebration.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Croissants (all-butter recommended)
  • Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Lemon Juice
  • Fresh Fruit for Platter (e.g., oranges, berries, grapes)
  • Optional: Clotted Cream or High-Quality Butter
  • Chilled Prosecco or Champagne
  • Fresh Orange Juice
  • Optional Garnishes: Orange slices, rosemary sprigs, pomegranate arils

Instructions

  1. The Day Before: Prepare the homemade strawberry jam by hulling and slicing strawberries, combining them with sugar and lemon juice in a pot. Cook until set, testing with a frozen plate. Cool and store in a clean jar.
  2. Morning Of: Wash and prepare the fresh fruit for the platter. Arrange artfully on a serving board and chill.
  3. About 15 minutes before serving: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Warm croissants on the oven rack for 5-7 minutes until fragrant and heated through. Transfer to a basket lined with a kitchen towel.
  4. Just before serving: Pour chilled orange juice into champagne flutes about one-third to halfway full. Slowly top with chilled Prosecco. Garnish as desired.
  5. Assemble the breakfast spread by arranging the fruit platter, warm croissants, jam, and optional cream/butter in a central, accessible location.

Notes

  • For the best flavor and texture, use all-butter croissants from a local bakery.
  • If strawberries are unavailable, other berries like raspberries or blackberries can be used for the jam.
  • Ensure Prosecco or Champagne is well-chilled for the mimosas.
  • Consider a non-alcoholic version using ginger ale or sparkling cider.
  • The jam can be made up to two weeks in advance.
