Incredible Christmas Sausage Rolls recipe for 2023

  • 1 pound (450g) sausage meat
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the sausage meat, parsley, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  4. Cut the pastry into strips, approximately 3 inches wide and 10 inches long.
  5. Spoon a line of the sausage mixture along the edge of each pastry strip, leaving space at the edges.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  7. Place the rolls on the prepared baking tray. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
