- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg until well beaten.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, dip it into the egg wash, and then coat it in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil for extra crispiness.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
- In a saucepan, combine orange juice, orange zest, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this to the sauce and stir until thickened.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oven and drizzle the orange sauce over the crispy pieces.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less honey.
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Serve with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
