Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (14.5 ounces)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  3. Transfer the browned meat mixture to the crockpot. Add the taco seasoning, beef broth, and diced tomatoes with green chilies.
  4. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  5. Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
  6. Once cooked, use a fork to shred the meat for a more uniform texture. Stir to combine everything well.
