  • 1012 fresh jalapeños, sliced into ¼ rounds
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Ranch dressing, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place jalapeño slices in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let soak for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat about 1½ inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove jalapeños from the buttermilk and dredge in seasoned flour, pressing lightly to coat.
  5. Fry in batches for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden and crisp. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Serve hot with ranch dressing for dipping.
