Garlic Butter Roasted Onions: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large onions (yellow or white)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves (or 1 tablespoon dried thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and slice the onions into thick wedges, about 1-inch wide.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper, stirring until fragrant.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the onion wedges with the garlic butter mixture. Toss well to coat the onions evenly.
  5. Spread the coated onions in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 30-35 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and tender. Stir halfway through for even cooking.
  7. If using, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the onions during the last 5 minutes of roasting for added flavor.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
  9. Transfer the roasted onions to a serving dish and enjoy the aromatic flavors.
