6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
4 cups mini marshmallows
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup M&M’s (red, pink, and white for Valentine’s Day)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking spray (for greasing)
Instructions
Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a heart-shaped baking pan with cooking spray.
Melt Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
Add Marshmallows: Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
Mix in Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine with Cereal: Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until all the cereal is evenly coated.
Add M&M’s: Gently fold in the M&M’s, reserving some for decoration if desired.
Press into Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared heart-shaped pan. Use a spatula or your hands (lightly greased) to press the mixture firmly into the pan.
Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until set.
Cut Out Shapes: Once set, carefully remove the treats from the pan. If you used a baking pan, you can cut them into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
Decorate: If desired, add more M&M’s on top for decoration.
