Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk with yeast and let it sit until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Add softened butter, eggs, food coloring, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread with butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll tightly into a log and cut into pieces; place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before frosting.
