2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 (16 oz) tub vanilla ice cream, softened
1 (10 oz) angel food cake, sliced horizontally into two layers
2 cups whipped topping
Instructions
In a bowl, toss sliced strawberries with sugar and let sit for 30 minutes.
Slice the angel food cake horizontally into two even layers.
Place one layer of cake on a serving platter. Spread half of the softened vanilla ice cream over the cake layer, followed by half of the macerated strawberries and their syrup.
Add the second layer of cake on top and repeat with the remaining ice cream and strawberries.
Top with whipped topping and garnish with additional strawberry slices.
Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least four hours until firm. Slice before serving.
