Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ lbs ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 envelope onion soup mix
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup heavy cream or sour cream (optional for creaminess)
Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined. Form the mixture into 4-6 equal patties.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Place the browned patties in the slow cooker. If you skipped browning, just place the raw patties directly.
In a separate bowl, combine beef broth, onion soup mix, and flour. Whisk until smooth, then pour the mixture over the patties in the slow cooker.
If using, sprinkle the sliced mushrooms over the patties.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the patties are cooked through and tender.
If desired, stir in heavy cream or sour cream during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Once cooked, serve the Salisbury steaks topped with the gravy over your choice of mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
