Sticky Orange Chicken Wings: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Zest of one orange (for extra flavor)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Prepare the Chicken Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange on the Baking Sheet: Place the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. This allows the heat to circulate, making the wings crispy.
  4. Bake the Wings: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Make the Orange Sauce: While the wings are baking, combine the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and orange zest in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Gradually add this to the simmering sauce, stirring continuously until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Coat the Wings: Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the orange sauce over the wings, tossing to coat evenly.
  8. Return to the Oven: For an extra sticky glaze, return the coated wings to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  9. Garnish: Once removed from the oven, sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the wings for added flavor and presentation.
  10. Serve Immediately: These wings are best enjoyed hot and fresh out of the oven for maximum stickiness.
