Sweet and Savory Roasted Orange Chicken Thighs is a delightful recipe combining citrus flavors with tender chicken.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 2 large oranges (juice and zest)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the juice and zest of the oranges, olive oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, black pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  3. Place the chicken thighs in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. If time allows, marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Place the marinated chicken thighs in the dish, skin side up.
  5. Slice the remaining orange and arrange the slices around the chicken in the baking dish.
  6. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and roast for 40-45 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the skin is crispy.
  7. Halfway through baking, baste the chicken with the pan juices.
  8. Once done, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  9. Before serving, sprinkle fresh parsley over the chicken.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of honey.
